I ask God to watch over me

to hold me tight and not let me be

I ask God to hear me pray

and understand what I have to say

I ask God to cradle me in his arms

to keep me from the many harms

I ask God to hold my hand

to keep me from the sinking sand

I ask God to keep me safe from fears

so I do not shed the tears

I ask God to stay by my side

so I do not have to hide

I ask God to stay with me a while

so I can go the extra mile

I ask God to watch me sleep

so my heart I do so keep

I ask God to be with me in my day

so I can stay on my way

I ask God to be with me in my sorrow

so I can find a better tomorrow

I ask God to stay with me when I wake

to be with me for safety sake

I ask God to stay in my heart

so each day I get a new start

I ask God to always be with me

so my peace I shall always see

I ask God to always show me how

so I can keep him with me now
